Renault announces significant gains in annual sales, revenues and profits.

  • New registrations up 3.2% to 2.7 million units
  • Group revenues: €41,055 million (+0.3%). Excluding foreign exchange rate effect, +3.1%
  • Group operating profit: €1,609 million, or 3.9% of revenues, compared to €1,242 million and 3.0% in 2013
  • Automotive operating profit: €858 million, compared to €495 million in 2013 (2.2% vs 1.3%)
  • Group operating income: €1,105 million versus minus €34 million
  • Net income: €1,998 million versus €695 million in 2013
  • Positive Automotive operational free cash flow: €1,083 million
“We met all the objectives announced for 2014. This milestone positions us on track to achieve our strategic plan, ‘Renault Drive the Change’. 2015 should allow us to take a new step forward, thanks to an unprecedented product offensive in the history of Renault,” said Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Renault.

In 2014, Group revenues came to €41,055 million, an increase of 0.3% compared to 2013. At constant exchange rates, revenues grew by 3.1%.

The contribution of the Automotive division to revenues amounted to €38,874 million, up 0.3% vs 2013. The Group offset negative currency variations by increasing prices outside Europe and by the strong growth of sales to partners.

The Group's operating profit reached €1,609 million, compared to €1,242 million in 2013 (3.9% of revenues vs 3.0% in 2013).

The Automotive operating profit rose by €363 million to €858 million, representing 2.2% of revenues. This performance results from cost reductions and from growth in sales while unfavorable foreign exchange rates and the enrichment of some end-of-life models impacted negatively.

Sales Financing contributed to €751 million to Group operating profit compared to €747 million in 2013. The drop in net banking income was offset by an increase in average loans outstanding and by growth in services. The cost of risk remained stable at 0.43%.
Other operating income and expense items were negative by €504 million, mostly due to restructuring costs of €305 million and the impairment of assets for €153 million.

Group operating income came to €1,105 million compared to -€34 million in 2013. This improvement results from the increase in operating profit and the reduction in other operating expenses of €772 million.

The contribution of associated companies, mainly Nissan, was €1,362 million, compared to €1,444 million in 2013, including the negative contribution of AVTOVAZ for -€182 million.
Net income came to €1,998 million and net income, Group share, to €1,890 million (€6.92 per share compared to €2.15 per share in 2013).

Automotive operational free cash flow was positive at €1,083 million, due to the increase in profitability, as well as a positive change of €596 million in the working capital requirement over the period.

A dividend of €1.90 per share, vs €1.72 last year, will be submitted for approval at the next Shareholders’ Annual General Meeting.

2015 OUTLOOK

In spite of the uncertainties surrounding numerous economies, global car demand should continue to grow this year (+2 %). The European market should also show a slight positive growth (+2 %) while we continue to expect high volatility in our main emerging markets:
In this context, Renault Group aims to:
  • increase further its registrations and revenues (at constant exchange rates),
  • continue to improve the Group’s operating margin and that of the Automotive division,
  • generate positive Automotive operational free cash flow.

Renault offers a new sporty look to the Clio, with the GT line look Pack.

  • GT Line Look Pack now available for £400
  • New wheels, exhaust, bumpers and trim details
  • GT Line Look pack available on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav
  • £250 parking camera option added to Clio GT Line
  • Interior trim changes applied to all Clio models
Dynamique by name, dynamic-looking by nature – that’s the Renault Clio when fitted with the optional new GT Line Look Pack, which is now available on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav versions for a cost of £400.

The GT Line Look Pack adds an even sportier edge through GT Anthracite alloy wheels (16-inch on Dynamique MediaNav and 17-inch on Dynamique S MediaNav), GT front and rear bumpers topped with LED daytime running lights and a single chromed exhaust tailpipe.

There are also Anthracite door mirror casings and protective inserts on the doors, Renaultsport sill kick plates and GT Line badging included in the pack, which is available with the Glacier White, Diamond Black, Flame Red and Mercury paint choices.

The GT Line Look Pack is available on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav with the 90 hp 0.9-litre TCe and 90 hp 1.5 dCi engines.

Some interior trim details have also been changed on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav models, with or without the GT Line look pack. The interior lighting is now a more modern white rather than amber, grey replaces gloss black for the door armrests and handles, and MediaNav or R-Link inserts and air conditioning controls now have a matt chrome rather than a shiny chrome finish.

On Dynamique S MediaNav, GT Line and Renaultsport models the air vent surrounds are also in matt chrome, which has been applied to the air vent handle and gear knob of all Clios. The gear gaiter surround is now grey on Expression and Expression+ versions and gloss black on Dynamique MediaNav and Dynamique S MediaNav models, matt chrome dashboard rings become standard across the range and there is a matt chrome handbrake button and interior door handles, plus the steering wheel on models with a leather wheel rim.

A rear parking camera also becomes available on the GT Line model for £250.
All changes are applicable to cars in production now.

Top 20 best sellers for 2014 in France, Surprise surprise, most are French.

The Renault Clio and Peugeot 208 remained the top-selling car models in France during 2014. The Captur and 308 were also favorites of French car buyers. In a flat car market, the Fiat 500 was the only truly new model on the top-twenty list of best-selling car models in France in 2014. No foreign brands were among the top ten most-popular car models in France.

Top 10 Best-Selling Cars in France in 2014

The list of the top 10 most popular car models in France in 2014 was once again led by the Renault Clio and Peugeot 208. These were also the only two car models that managed to maintain their exact rank positions from a year ago.
The Renault Clio IV has been France’s top-selling car model since its launch in 2012. In 2014, Clio sales in France increased by just over 2,000 cars compared to a year ago.
The Peugeot 208 has been the second most-popular car model in France since its full year in production in 2013. In contrast to the Clio, sales of the small Peugeot were down nearly 6,000 cars compared to a year ago.
Sales of the Renault Captur increased sharply in 2014 making it France’s third best-selling car compared to seventh a year ago.
The Peugeot 308 II shot up from 33rd to 4th but this is largely due to the practice in France of listing cars according to the model and not just the model name. A year ago, the Peugeot 308 was the 7th most popular car model and when sales of the 308 and 308 II were added together, the model would have been in fourth place overall.
Although sales of the Citroen C3 were higher in 2014 than a year ago, the model slipped two places from third to fifth.
The Peugeot 2008 continued to improve and with almost double the sales from a year ago entered the top 10 list at sixth place from 15th a year ago.
Sales of the Renault Scenic were flat but the model dropped three places from 4th to 7th.
The Citroen C4 Picasso entered the top 10 list at 8th from 21st a year ago but this is again largely due to a new model being counted separately from it predecessor a year ago.
Although sales of the Renault Megane were stronger in 2014, the model slipped to 9th from 5th a year ago. In 2012, the Megane was the second most-popular car model in France, missing out on the top slot by only a few hundred units.
The Dacia Sandero similarly slipped four positions from a year ago despite selling more cars in 2014 than in 2013.

Top 20 Most-Popular Car Models in France in 2014

The VW Polo was again the best-selling foreign branded car model in France in 2014. However, the Polo slipped out of the top-ten list, where it has been the 8th most-popular car model for the previous two years.
The Dacia Duster saw sales increased strongly allowing it to move up from 18th to 12th most-popular car in France in 2014; a position it also held in 2012.
Despite sales slipping only marginally, the Peugeot 3008 has slipped out of the top 10 list in 2014 – it was 10th in 2013 and 9th in 2012.
Sales of the Volkswagen Golf – Europe’s favorite car model – continued to increase in France in 2014. However, the Golf lost two rank places from a year ago.
The Nissan Qasqai – the most popular Japanese car in France in 2014 – similarly slipped one position despite stronger sales.
The Renault Twingo II slipped from 9th a year ago to 16th largely due to a model change. The Twingo III has been selling well since its launch towards the end of 2014 and is the car most likely to reenter the top-ten list next year.
The Toyota Yaris, Citroen C4 and Ford Fiesta all had weaker sales in France in 2014 and all lost rank position but remained amongst the top 20 most popular cars in France.
The Fiat 500 was the only truly new model on the top-20 list – up from 28th a year ago. It replaced the DS3 that slipped to 24th.
The other two top-20 cars from a 2013 no longer on the list are the Peugeot 207 and Peugeot 208 – both cars were replaced by new models.
