Renault’s new Twingo city car now has a new top-of-the-range model, the Dynamique S TCe 90.v

  • Sporty new flagship for Renault’s hot-selling new city car
  • Previously optional Sport Pack added as standard
  • Exterior styling and interior trim embellishments
  • Powered by 90 hp TCe 90 0.9-litre turbo engine
  • £12,545 on the road including 4+ warranty and assistance package
Renault’s award-winning new Twingo city car range has been further bolstered by the addition of a new top-of-the-range model, the Dynamique S TCe 90.

It features the previously optional ‘Sport Pack’ of exterior styling and interior trim embellishments as standard, and is powered by the 90 hp 0.9-litre TCe  turbocharged petrol engine fitted to the former top model, the Dynamique TCe 90.

Standard features unique to the Dynamique S include an aluminium pedal set, red/black part leather upholstery and a red interior touch pack. The exterior lines are set off by 16-inch sport diamond-cut alloy wheels, matt black side decals and an exterior touch pack in red, with white as a no-cost option.

The red interior touch pack adds stylish finishing touches to the steering wheel, centre console and air vents, while the exterior touch pack does the same for the front grille insert, door mirrors and side door protectors.

The Dynamique S also comes with LED daytime running lights, front foglamps, electric heated door mirrors, cruise control, a lane departure warning system, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearshift knob, air conditioning and white instrument backlighting. As with every new Twingo, it has electric power steering, electric front windows, a trip computer and gearchange indicator, a lane-change function for the indicators and automatic activation of the rear screen wiper when reverse gear is selected.

Practicality is ensured by the unique-in-segment folding front passenger seat and a split-folding two-seat rear bench. The safety equipment includes Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, Emergency Brake Assist and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The 0.9-litre TCe turbocharged engine endows the Dynamique S with the performance to match its sporty looks. It develops 90 hp at 5,500 rpm and 135 Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm – sufficient for 0-62 mph acceleration in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 103 mph. Yet with engine Stop & Start as standard it is also extremely efficient, recording an official 65.7 mpg – and more than 50 mpg in urban city use – with CO2emissions of just 99 g/km to put it in VED Band A for free Road Fund Licence.

Fuel economy can be improved by up to 10 per cent by making full use of the gearshift indicator, the Renault Driving eco2 feature incorporated within the R & GO®or R-Link connectivity systems and the in-built ECO switch, which alters the throttle mapping and air conditioning power.

Variable Gear Ratio steering is also standard, giving a firmer feel to the leather-rimmed wheel in the straight-ahead position while ensuring a higher steering ratio as the car starts to turn. The result is effortless manoeuvrability in congested cities with great precision when changing direction on open roads.

The Twingo Dynamique S is available in Crystal White, Diamond Black or Flame Red paint colours and is available to order now, with first deliveries expected in April 2015.

It costs £12,545 on the road and comes with the peace of mind of Renault’s 4+ warranty and assistance package. This protects against defects recognised by Renault for four years or 100,000 miles (first two years unlimited). In the event of a breakdown, Renault provides emergency roadside repairs or towing to the nearest dealer 24/7 every day of the year, plus three years’ European cover. There is also a three-year paint warranty and 12 years’ cover against corrosion.

All-inclusive servicing packages are also available for up to four years.

Mazda launches a whole host of new and refreshed models at Geneva 2015

  • All-new Mazda CX-3 makes European debut
  • New generation Mazda MX-5 and Mazda2 join 2015 Mazda CX-5 and 2015 Mazda6
Mazda’s model offensive will go into overdrive at the 85th Geneva Motor Show in early March. The Japanese carmaker will showcase the all-new Mazda CX-3 – its fifth model launch in six months – alongside two new model generations, the all-new Mazda MX-5 and the recently introduced Mazda2, and the 2015 Mazda CX-5 and 2015 Mazda6.

Front and centre is the Mazda CX-3, as Mazda’s very first small SUV makes its European premiere. Offered in AWD or FWD format, the sleek KODO design and the unconventional combination of performance and fuel efficiency from its SKYACTIV Technology are set to take this rapidly growing segment by storm when it goes on sale in Europe in early summer.

The long awaited fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 offers something for everyone. First revealed in September, the all-new MX-5 features will set the heart racing with a new exterior design and SKYACTIV engines. The lightweight design goes back to the roots of the original model launched 25 years ago. It will hit the market in the autumn.

The new Mazda2 raises the bar for the B segment with a huge range of equipment for its class, including a head-up display. The new supermini has already won the 2014-15 Japan Car of the Year award and Europe’s Golden Steering Wheel.

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 and 2015 Mazda6 round out the company’s highlights in Geneva. Besides redesigned faces and interiors, new features include active safety systems like Adaptive LED Headlights – a Mazda debut. The 2015 Mazda6 is offered with AWD and a head-up display, while the 2015 CX-5 adds the powerful SKYACTIV-G 2.5 to its petrol engine line-up.

All five models will be available with MZD Connect, Mazda’s safe and easy-to-use smartphone connectivity system, and the company’s state-of-the-art i-ACTIVSENSE active safety technology. They will be on display at stand 5150 (hall 5) at the Geneva Motor Show, which opens to the media on 3-4 March and then the public from 5-15 March. Mazda will hold its press conference at 10:45am on 3 March.

Hyundai UK plans big investment to make the company a top five sales brand.

  • Hyundai Motor UK outlines vision for future growth
  • New products to spearhead growth in 2015 and beyond
  • Investment in dealer network and brand engagement to attract new customers
Hyundai Motor UK today has set out its vision for continued growth in 2015 and beyond.

After another record year in 2014, during which the company sold over 80,000 cars in the UK for the first time, Hyundai has outlined its short, medium and long-term plans for future growth.

In the short-term, Hyundai Motor UK is targeting 100,000 annual registrations, with a medium-term goal of 5% market share. In the long-term, the company aims to secure a Top 5 sales position among all car brands in the UK.

New product launches, continued investment in the dealer network and increased public engagement via key cultural and sport partnerships will help the company achieve its goals, according to Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK.

Presenting the company’s vision, Whitehorn said: “Hyundai has undergone something of a transformation in recent years - and we’ve tripled sales in the UK since 2008. But that’s not enough - we want Hyundai to grow into something more, and we do that by offering more cars that people want to buy.”

Hyundai plans to launch several new models in 2015. The supermini New Generation i20, which went on sale a week ago, will be joined later in the year by the new i20 Coupe, New i30 and i30 Turbo and New i40, amongst others. Diversifying the split of core model sales is key to the company’s growth strategy as it moves towards 100,000 UK sales – 20,000 each of i10, i20, i30 and ix35 with the final 20,000 models made up by the rest of the range.

All new models will feature the latest technology and features developed by Hyundai engineers in Germany and Korea. The company announced a £48 billion investment (80.7 trillion KRW) in new facilities (49.1 trillion KRW) and R&D (31.6 trillion KRW) earlier this month, while a recent study by Thomson Reuters IP & Science found that Hyundai had posted the biggest increase in the number of patent filings among global carmakers over the last five years.

As well as attracting new customers with new models and technologies, Hyundai is going through the process of revamping its UK dealer network with a new showroom identity - designed to offer visitors an excellence experience that matches the quality of the brand’s new models.

This approach extends to an understanding of how today’s consumer operates - the digital store Rockar was opened towards the end of 2014 and offers motorists a completely new way to buy a car.

Hyundai will also engage consumers through a series of sporting and cultural initiatives this year and beyond. As well as the long-term agreement with Tate, Hyundai has been a sponsor of FIFA football tournaments for more than 15 years, and will remain an official partner until at least 2022. After a hugely successful inaugural year in the World Rally Championship, Hyundai is hoping to build on its successes on the road and with motorsport fans in 2015.

“We’re a young company and have the freedom to do things a little differently,” added Whitehorn. “We need to take this as an opportunity to reach out to more people and build advocacy for the Hyundai brand.”

The carmaker is one year into an unprecedented 11-year partnership with Tate, one of the world’s top art institutions. The collaboration - which is founded upon Hyundai’s and Tate’s commitment to worldwide innovation - is the longest of its kind in Tate’s history.

Vauxhall’s all-new five-door entry-level model VIVA is to world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show (5th – 15th March). Arriving in summer, the VIVA will be the latest addition to Vauxhall’s small car range joining the fashionable ADAM and the popular Corsa supermini.

UK SALES - NISSAN - Record sales again for Nissan with no end in sight to higher sales.

  • Nissan car sales topped 138,000 in the UK in 2014 - the best ever sales volume in the company’s history
  • Share of the car market reached 5.6% per cent – cementing Nissan as the fastest growing top-10 brand in 2014
  • The all-new Qashqai secures the 6th spot in the sales charts
  • UK-built stars – Juke and LEAF – posted highest ever sales
  • Nissan’s Sunderland Plant output tops 500,000 for a third year running
Nissan Motor GB Limited recorded its best ever sales year in 2014 with 138,338 cars sold in the last 12 months. This represents a 17% increase over 2013’s figure of 117,967.

Nissan also bolstered its position as the fastest growing top 10 brand in the UK, commanding a market share of 5.6% in 2014 – smashing yet another record. This increased share in the car market puts Nissan in sixth position in the UK.

Boosting this sales success was Nissan’s UK-built stars – the new Juke and the 100% electric LEAF and the Note – all of which broke sales records for another year.

The all-new Qashqai – which arrived in UK showrooms in January – continued its remarkable success story, attaining over 47,000 sales. The figures consolidated its position as the UK's sixth best-selling car.

The Juke also enjoyed a bumper year, with the updated version going on sale in June. During the last 12 months, Juke sales climbed from 37,488 in 2013 to 39,263. Proving its continued popularity with the British public, the latest figures confirm the Juke as the UK’s 10th best-selling car.

Finally the all-electric LEAF clocked up 4,051 sales in the UK, more than doubling the volume sold in 2013 (1,812), confirming that the British-built Nissan LEAF remains the nation's electric model of choice. The Nissan LEAF boasts 55% of the pure EV market and outsold its nearest competitor by more than 2:1.

Nissan's extraordinary sales success comes as Nissan’s Sunderland Plant broke the half a million production barrier again for the third year running, building a staggering 500,237 vehicles.

James Wright, Managing Director, Nissan Motor GB, said: “Key to Nissan’s success in 2014 is the onslaught of new and updated products launched in the last year and I am immensely proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by the Nissan team in the UK.

“Our British-built offering continues to capture the attention of UK motorists and I am particularly delighted to see that the all-electric LEAF is still dominating the pure EV market, doubling its sales volume last year.”

Nissan has launched no-less than nine new and updated products, starting with the multi-award winning British-built Qashqai in January. This was then followed by the MY14 GT-R, new Juke, all-new X-Trail, GT-R NISMO and the all-electric e-NV200.

Nissan didn’t stop there and with Nissan’s return to the C-segment with the all-new Pulsar as well as the launch of the MY15 370Z NISMO and the Juke NISMO RS, the brand now has one of the youngest, freshest and most exciting product line-ups covering a diverse array of sectors.
Including Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs), Nissan sold 148,607 vehicles in the UK, up 16% from 128,586 in 2013.
